whistle hamlet's soliloquy

I'm as Corny as Kansas in August!

The last few days have been really relaxing! With the boys gone, Nolan and I have had date night (or date lunch) every day. It's been fantastic, really. We've been to restaurants and so forth, but last night I made homemade white pizzas and he read The Thin Man to me while we shared a bottle of Pinot Noir. It was kinda romantical. :)

September 16 - October 3 will be the production dates for South Pacific. It really has a phenomenally talented cast - when I looked at the list past my own name (selfish, selfish) I was floored by all the talent just in the chorus, not to mention the leads! So if you're going to be in the Amarillo area then, make plans to see it. Rehearsals start Monday, and I'm really excited. It's fun to know I have more to do than just the mundane things that go one here from day to day. Laundry, cooking, cleaning, sewing, painting, writing... Breaks up the monotony, you know?

I'm watching a copy of the movie version of South Pacific that I borrowed from my friend Scott. So far, it only makes me want to go on vacation to somewhere tropical. Like right now. The last time I watched it, I think I lived with deedsk_tx. And that was nearly fifteen years ago. Lord, we're old, D. ;) When did that happen?

And I know it might be silly, but waking up to this made me really, really happy, too.

And next weeks prompt is the best yet. :D

Life's pretty great.
Meh dead like me

Home again, home again...

Nolan and I have had a nice time in Austin, but as always, after about 4 days away from home, I start getting ready to sleep in my own bed and have my own shower... It's not that the hotel isn't nice, it's just not HOME.

We saw Fanboys at the Alamo Drafthouse. I love eating and drinking during a movie. Glass of red wine? Check. It made the film a little funnier, I think. It wasn't too cerebral, and I certainly didn't have to think about it, much. I think I was relieved that I didn't get some of the more obscure Star Wars jokes. Won't need to see it again. :)

I get in at Amarillo International at 4 something, and my dad (who is coming for a visit 'til Friday) gets in at 5:30, and then I have rehearsal at 7:30, for which I'm supposed to be memorized for Act I.

Am I?

No. Not entirely.

But I have airports and plane rides and about 9 hours between now and then, so keep your fingers crossed.

Except I have to be memorized for Act II tomorrow. *thunk* <--My head hitting the desk. (It was a lot easier to memorize a hundred pages of dialogue before I had kids.)

Movie Recs?

My Netflix queue is getting alarmingly low.  Anyone seen any movies that they thing I ought to see?  Keep in mind, I've seen next to nothing at the theatre this year.

I like comedies, dramas, romantic comedies, historical dramas, period pieces...  and Nolan likes stuff with car chases, explosions and shootouts.

We don't agree on much, cinematically.  :)

I'm so proud!

So the above is a picture of Me, Patrick (who is in Chicago - I posted about a month ago), Terry, who is acting in Dallas, and Jo in The Fantasticks.  This is at the end of Act I...  Look who isn't singing.  Hrm.  Anyway, I played Terry (the girl)'s mother (Bell).  2005, I think.  I also played her mother in Brighton Beach Memoirs.  And something else, probably, too. Not that I'm actually old enough to be her mother...  I think I'm 14 years older than she is.  Anyhow.  I digress.

Terry did her first film!  You can watch the trailer here.  It looks really funny, I think.

She's like one of my own children.  I'm SO proud.  She'll be listed in IMDB!  AHHH!

Also.  New Layout.  What do we think?
