More Weirdness

So I was thinking yesterday about all of the crap we're going to have to move in a couple of months...  (The masons are doing the brick, and they're starting drywall inside, YAY!)  And the one thing that is more daunting than the rest is the fact that we'll have to move my piano.

*sigh*  I should let it go.

Well, I've tried.  My parents bought it in the early eighties, and we've tried unloading on several people.  My dad even sold it once, but they couldn't get it in the lady's house.  It was too heavy.  I've tried to sell it, tried to give it to several theatres that I've worked for, and still it sits where it has for the last ten years.

Here's the kicker.  I think it's cursed.

I know, I know, f-list, what you're thinking.  Here's Carrie with another one of her weird theories...  but come on, look at this!

Does anyone else see that the knots in the wood look very much like a DEMON?  Or at the very least, a pissed off longhorn?  Neither of which I want in the living room.  I used to have to keep sheet music up all the time, even when I wasn't practicing, just because the thing creeped me out.  Actually, I think I blame the wood grain for the fact that I'm not more adept at the piano, and not my absolute loathing of sitting down to practice.

It was made by the Estey Piano Company, New York, and the patents on the inside range from April 1873 to June of 1909.

Seriously...  this thing is an episode of Supernatural waiting to happen.

Which would be okay, if Sam and Dean came to visit.  :)

Ohh! Sam and Dean coming to visit? Sounds like a fine way of getting rid of the piano! *hugs* That does look like a wicked face in the wood. Good luck figuring out what to do with it, hon!
Carrie Leigh: dean slapped the iconcarrie_leigh on November 16th, 2007 09:37 pm (UTC)
Chop it up and use it for kindling?

But only after Sam and Dean come to save me. ;)
sue_bridehead on November 16th, 2007 03:06 pm (UTC)
Yeah, I see the face. Angry longhorn, if you ask me.

Uggh, moving is a nightmare. But when you imagine yourself in that beautiful new home (and no longer paying rent-!), you just dig your heels in and do it. Are you going to have a major garage sale or give stuff to a charity (maybe a cursed piano)? ;) Charities sometimes come out and pick up large objects. We gave away an old console TV that needed repaired, but they still came out and took it off our hands.

I can't imagine why a theater, church, or school wouldn't want it. You could put it up for sale on Craigslist. If no one wants to buy it, post it as a freebie. It'll be out of your house within 48 hours.
Carrie Leigh: Cinically Insanecarrie_leigh on November 16th, 2007 04:14 pm (UTC)
We own a house now, so no rent. And I just had a garage sale last month. No one wanted the piano.

It's weird. I don't want it, but I feel like I need to keep it.

Cursed, I tell you.

Holy crap. Your piano is POSSESSED!

Keep rock salt close at hand. I do not see that as an unreasonable precaution... and maybe holy water.

We learn from the Winchesters.

I know.

Freaking thing won't let me get rid of it.

Goodness, that piano is quite strange... Nothing compared to the creepy organ that my grandparents loaded onto us, though. It doesn't look nearly as haunted, but anytime you touch it, you get the feeling it's about to collapse on top of you. I'll have to upload you a picture of it sometime.

I wonder how many other people have had pianos and organs dumped onto them? Maybe we should start a LJ group about it...
Carrie Leigh: pessimistcarrie_leigh on November 16th, 2007 07:05 pm (UTC)
A possessed piano support group. Hah!

Did you get a package yesterday? I think you should have....

I remember the piano!
That is so funny. I had completely forgotten about the demon. I remember it sitting in y'alls den on Vilbig. I still drive down past Nimitz, through the park and around the circle and past the old house every once in a while. Good memories. I've still yet to ever see a house with a bathtub like the one in the master. Oh the mornings we got ready for school at your house. Remember running home after making it for Vikas! Playing in the circle with our dolls when we were still in elem... Wow! Thanks for the flashbacks! Love, Marlena

Re: I remember the piano!
I had forgotten about the word Vilbig. *snort* Who came up with that one?

You meen you haven't seen a bathtub that was only made for midgets? It was so small.

I remember you falling through the ice in the creek at Fritz park! I've never seen anyone look that cold!

We SO need to get together the next time I'm in Dallas!

[snerk]

Nice.

It looks like the sorts of demons that are like part cat or something...

[affects bad dutch accent]

Your piano is toit. Toit loike a toiga.

[resumes regular michigander accent]

My piano was dumped on me when I moved out... My mom didn't want it around anymore, and I was the only one who ever played it.

But, My piano is not currently possessed, nor do I want to get rid of it.

In case you're wondering... I don't need another one. :D

You don't want a possessed piano? I can hardly believe it. It's one of those things that rounds out your life ever so nicely!

Yes, I'm Carrie, I have a husband and two sweet children, a black labrador retriever and a possesed piano. So glad to meet you!
Jo-Anne Stormjo_anne_storm on November 16th, 2007 10:40 pm (UTC)
*cackles* I say pissed off long horn myself. That's awesome, but I'm slightly strange.
Carrie Leigh: portrait of a ladycarrie_leigh on November 16th, 2007 10:51 pm (UTC)
Awesome? Would you like to have it?

Not that I'm pushing my *might be* possessed piano off on you. No, not at all.

We also have a piano that we can't get rid of. It's too heavy to move, and it's really ugly! It used to be at my grandmothers but my mum for some stupid reason wanted to have it. Nobody has ever played on it for at least ten years! Nobody in my family can even play piano!

And yup, can totally see that demon of yours!
Carrie Leigh: clown in sewercarrie_leigh on November 17th, 2007 02:36 pm (UTC)
There's a lot of that going around, apparently. Pianos with no conceivable use.

I KNOW! He's there!
dragonsangel68dragonsangel68 on November 17th, 2007 12:10 am (UTC)
That's a bit creepy! Maybe a call to Sam and Dean just to be sure wouldn't be out of order ;)
Carrie Leigh: Dean scorecarrie_leigh on November 17th, 2007 02:37 pm (UTC)
If I could, I'd have them here in a heartbeat.
kristibiscikristibisci on November 17th, 2007 02:36 am (UTC)
I used to always look at the grains in my old wooden wardrobe and see "demon faces". It was kind of a game. I'd also see cat faces in my grandma's weird splotchy bedroom wallpaper.
Carrie Leigh: give me coffeecarrie_leigh on November 17th, 2007 02:38 pm (UTC)
When I was about 9, I guess, this thing scared me so badly that I wouldn't walk through the room where it sat. I'm less scared now. A little.
slitherhither: lunaslitherhither on November 17th, 2007 09:02 am (UTC)
Definitely possessed. Although, it sort of looks like a thwarted Sylvester the Cat from the Tweety-Bird cartoons--that's a lot less scary. I also see a faded, weird monkey face to the left of the angry cat/face and OMG I just had to turn on a light in my bedroom when I said that! Creepy. Definitely get rid of it. Can't you donate it to the Twilight Zone museum? But seriously, craigslist will do the trick. *sleeping with lights on tonight*
Carrie Leigh: I'm not obsessedcarrie_leigh on November 17th, 2007 02:40 pm (UTC)
Oh, my heavens! I'd never seen the weird monkey face, but THERE IT IS!

I've tried to get rid of it! It's like Christine the piano, only with less bloodshed.
