I'm sunburned! I'd never make it as a rancher.
It was a lovely weekend, filled with good things.  I got some writing done, cooked a LOT, drank good wine, and went to several antique stores.  There's photo evidence under the cut!

Bluebonnets!  The Texas state flower.  So pretty!  Rare in this part of the state, as well!

View from the back porch of the cabin...  it has it's own beauty.

The poor kid's amusement park ride...  They were going to plant trees....  there's the barn in the background.

Sunrise...  the boys woke up at 6:30 a.m. BOTH DAYS.  I have to DRAG them out of bed on school days.

And for Orpheus Samhain, because I promised...  These two are yearlings, and that's their Mommy behind them, none too pleased that I was near her babies.  I retreated to the saftey of the tractor.  Herbivores, my ass.  That cow was pissed.

Hope you all had a great weekend!

Your place has a real subtle beauty, especially at sunrise. And I feel very, very sorry for you that you know how it looks at sunrise! The cows are beautiful too, in their own awkward, bovine way--as long as you are far enough away to avoid vicious mothers!

It took a long while to agree that this part of the country was pretty... I could do without all the beauty at sunrise, though. ;)

My favorite flower is a bluebonnet. I taught Texas History and draped my classroom with them.

About where is this? I was in Oklahoma City this weekend. Did you get any of that horrendous weather?

P.S. You kids are cute.

I love bluebonnets, even more so because I live in the panhandle now, where they don't grow. (I grew up in Dallas) This is our cabin in Childress. Well I guess actually it's Carey, but as no one knows where that is, I always say Childress. We did get a lot of rain Saturday night and the wind this weekend was pretty bad, too.

It looks so beautiful - I'm amazed at all the open space :) Lovely. And the boys are so cute! Glad you had a good time! :)

That's what we have... blue skies and wide open spaces!

YAY for cows and their motherly instincts! ;)

Yor weekend sounded lovely! ;)

Yay for safe places to go to when the cows freak out!

Oh my gosh, how true! My youngest can never make it to preschool on time and it starts at 9:30. However, weekends she's up promptly by 7:30. I just adore life's little ironies.

Adore is probably a strong word for me. It is very, very ironic.

Fantastic pics! It's so beautiful there. And yay for writing *g*

Thank you. It does have it's own beauty. When I moved to this part of the country, I wondered where the heck all the trees had gone. Now I appreciate it more.

I wrote. I don't know that it's not all going to change, but I wrote.

Your boys are adorable! I want to huggle them until they're all huggled out!
Ahem. You really didn't need to make me any cluckier than I already am.

Blue sky and wide open spaces - sounds like much of my state (well, like most of the Outback, really).

Take revenge on the mama cow - let the boys (Nolan included) EAT HER(since I know you won't).

You remembered! Ahahaha! I love animals :) The yearlings are sweet but their mother has "Constant Vigilance!" written on her forehead. Good. Someone has to be responsible :)

Glad you had a nice time :) Boys seem to enjoy their ride.
