Movie Review Monday

Yeah, I know you've missed it.

Employee of the Month *

Yeah, this was hubby’s pick.  Artistically, this was not a cinematic masterpiece, but I have to admit, I did laugh sporadically.  Basically, Jessica Simpson (who is from my hometown) is only in it for her breasts, the cleavage of which is visible for most of the movie. So, um, if you liked Clerks, or possibly Dazed and Confused, this is the movie for you.

The Odd Couple **

I probably shouldn’t have rented this so soon after having done the play.  I knew all the jokes.  Maybe if you don’t, it would be funnier.  I love me some Walter Matthau, though.  I think he’s hysterical.

Lady in the Water ***1/2

M. Night Shyamalan is a frickin’ genius.  I’m probably the last person in the continental U. S. to have seen this movie, but I really liked it.  The thing with his movies is that you never know what’s gonna happen.  And I didn’t right up until the last scene.  It was weird, though.  And I look forward to seeing it again, with hubby, so I can really see what will happen from the beginning.  The Village, another of his great films, scared the crap out of me.  Rent that, if you haven’t already.

Superman Returns **

I swear to you, New Superman Boy (can’t remember his name-can’t be fussed to Google it) sounds just like Christopher Reeve in the first one, but he’s much, much prettier.  Did anyone else think he looked a little chubby sometimes, though?  I loved Kevin Spacey.  And Parker Posey.  What was with the dog?  She didn’t need it.  And to be perfectly honest, I only watched the last ¾ of it, so mayyyybe a star could’ve been lurking in the part that I missed.  Probably not.  It really irritated  me when they set it up all nice and pretty for a sequel.  Grr.

Open Season **** (according to Ethan and Aaron)

To quote my six year old, “It was so awesome, Mom.  It was really funny!”

I’ll take their word for it.

Anyone got any movie recs for me?  I have a Netflix addiction.  Feed it.

And Doctors and labs and everyone that works for them have no care in the world for the little people.  After calling twice, I've recieved NO response from them, but have received one from mother nature, and I'm fairly certain that there will be no mini-Persephone in nine months.  Whew.  Dodged a bullet, there.

Some good movies are:

*The Illusionist with Edward Norton, Paul Giamatti and Jessica Biel
*Troy starring Brad Pitt, Orlando Bloom and Eric Bana
*Peter Pan, the 2003 version starring Jeremy Sumpter and Rachel Hurd-Wood (it's a great kids movie, but most adults that are kids at heart, i.e. me, really like it too)
*Triumph of Love starring Mira Sorvino and Ben Kingsly - based off of a famous 18th century play by Pierre de Marivaux.

Those are some of my faves!!

Thanks, Elle!
I put #1 & #4 on my list, we actually own Peter Pan, (kids, you know) and my husband loves Troy!

Oh, that is sad. No, that's more than sad. That's pathetic. Shame on that doctor, but yay for you.
