“So, please, oh please, we beg, we pray, go throw your TV set away, and in its place you can install
... a lovely bookcase on the wall!"

I've threatened to do it, I've facebooked about it, I've thought about it and waited for other people to do it, and now I've decided I'm going to do it mah own self.

I'm starting a book club.

So this releases those of you who don't like to read (!?) or don't like to eat (!?) from reading further. Because my book club will involve BOTH. Eating and reading, preferably at the same time, are one of my pleasures in life. So yes, books and food.

And probably wine, too.

*snort* Probably, she says.

There will be wine.

And we'll not close it off from online friends. I will do a book club post every month, so that if you don't get to make it to the meeting, or if you live in Australia or Dubai or Great Britain or somewhere, you can still read and participate. And you can eat, too. Just not with me. :(

Sound good?

And this is the last time the book choices will be autocratic. Next month we'll take suggestions from the group and poll those.

The first meeting of the Literary Potluck Society will meet at my house, Sunday evening, February 3, 2013, at 6:00 p.m. Tell your friends. This will be a fun time. You don't wanna miss it.

from your sister
I can't participate. I am not allowed novels except on vacation. Self control issues. But I did read night circus last summer (on vaca) and it was really good.

I think I want to try this. :) I am currently reading Genesis, a piece of Christian fiction, and a trashy novel. *g* We shall see!

Yours is the only bookclub I would consider joining. Why must we be states apart? Why, oh why?

book club!
Carrie, I hope you get tons of interest. I love my book club — we've been meeting for six years now. At our last planning meeting, we chose selections for the next 18 months (um, yes, we like to plan) and interestingly enough three of the selections we chose are on your list: "The Great Gatsby," "Gone Girl," and "The Paris Wife." Also, to go along with "The Paris Wife," we are going to read "The Sun Also Rises." So fun! xo
