Faux Mashed Potatoes

It seems that I will never win awards for being a sneaky cook.

I found this recipe online not too long ago, and I'm ashamed to say, I cheated on my lifelong love of creamy, cheesy, real mashed potatoes and tried to pass off mashed, pureed, buttered cauliflower as my one and only love. It's tragic, the lengths I'll go to to be a size eight.

So I served fake potatoes. I served 'potatoes' that were really cauliflower, parading around, usurping mashed potatoes' good name.

It did not go well.

It was comical, the way they took a bite, looked down and goggled at the white stuff on their plates.

After a rather pregnant pause, Nolan shouted, "We've been cauliflowered!"

Aaron looked at me and said, "I thought it tasted weird, but I kept eating it so I wouldn't hurt your feelings."

Ethan ate two helpings. Under duress.

We will not be having it again, sadly.

Ah, well. It's not to be, cauliflower. So sorry. I liked you, but that just ain't enough 'round here.

You know, I do.

They aren't mashed potatoes, but without butter and cheese, they're virtually guilt free. I do need a little butter. And salt. :)
