Except I don't do tequila (Tequilq free since '93!), but daquiriville sounds a little bizarre.

I'm at the beach, updating on an iPad, which is the most trying part of my vacation thus far.

Here's some things I've noticed:

-Dolphins are EVERYwhere down here. People decorate with the foul things. Ugh.
-Vacations elicit more activity than being home does. Swimming, biking, walking on the beach... All good.
-Sandcastles are serious business. Don't be fooled into thinking otherwise.
-The Hunger Games trilogy can be read in 36 hours, if you've nothing else pressing on your time. I loved it, apart from the first person-present tense-fragmented sentences nightmare. And who is Suzanne Collins? Real or not real? The fact that it's marketed as a children's book horrified me, a little. Thoughts?

That's it. I have to go make myself presentable for dinner out, and finish a glass of wine. Life is trying, here in paradise.

I tried reading The Hunger Games last year and got about 100 pages in before I gave up. I found myself not caring about any of the characters and I just wasn't buying the premise.

And seriously, the baker's son is called Peeta? Are you kidding me with that crap?

That book is the required summer reading for the high school in town. I'm horrified.

Yeah, Peeta. I just pretend that it's Peter with a British accent.

I hope your town is prepared for some psychological issues in the teen population! Those books gave me bad dreams!

Dolphins ARE everywhere in FL. It's like the state's infested. ;D

I love The Hunger Games. It's not really a kid's book at all, but that's the case with a lot of 'Young Adult' books, I'm finding. The fact that it features young people doesn't necessarily mean it's appropriate reading for them.

Have a great vacation! And daquiriville sounds good to me. Tequila's gross.

Tequila solidarity, sister!

No kidding. THG is NOT kid reading. It was actually Ethan's book, and I read it first, to make sure it was okay. It's not. He'll be waiting a few more years before reading, I think.

I downloaded the books to give them a read - I have a lot of friends who love them... and I want to see the film so I figure I'll give them a try. :)

And I'm horrified on your behalf about the dolphins. O.o

I really couldn't put them down. Let me know who you ship, k?

Thank you. I appreciate the support.

I have a feeling it's going to be Peeta/Katnis... right? Isnt't that who most people ship?
Carrie Leigh: pinata hatecarrie_leigh on August 14th, 2011 05:49 pm (UTC)
It is. It's the mainstream ship.
