Because tomorrow I'm embarking on a regime that does NOT involve putting everything I see into my mouth, because It's fanfreakingtastic, and because I love ya, I give you:
This is my own recipe. Most recipes call for brandy and rum, or whiskey. Those have their place, but I felt like something a little different this year.
And before anyone goes, "EEK! Uncooked eggs!" Have a little faith. There's a billion egg nog recipe on the net and most of them involve uncooked eggs. There are cooked nog recipes that work, but that was WAY more work than I wanted to go into today. I've always had luck with this one, though. Try it. Chances are you won't die. ;)
Time: 5 minutes, plus 1 hour’s chilling (Chilled nog is the BEST nog.)
4 large eggs
3/4 cup granulated sugar, or to taste
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg, more for sprinkling
1/2 cup KAHLUA, baby! (No cheap imitations, please. If you're gonna spice your egg nog, do it right.)
12 ounces whole milk
8 ounces heavy cream (Lord, have mercy.)
Crack eggs into blender and process for one minute on medium speed. Slowly add sugar and blend for one more minute. With blender running, add remaining ingredients until combined. Refrigerate for at least one hour (up to overnight). Serve in chilled wineglasses, sprinkling nutmeg on top.
And sit by the fire to drink.
