The joy of being a mother to BOYS.
At least my BFA in Theatre Arts didn't go completely to waste.

After last year's complete and utter costume cuteness, this year my kids are going as a vampire and a zombie.

Boys. What are you going to do.

When they were smaller we made cupcakes together. Now we make fake blood.

Recipe for Edible Blood by Carrie Leigh

Cast of Characters:

1 c Karo syrup
2 Tbsp cocoa powder
1 Tbssp peanut butter
a metric ton of red food coloring (maybe 40 drops? we used food coloring paste)

Ew, right?

And then painting the blood on the artfully torn clothes.

Forgive the boys in their boxers. Making them wear clothes is a chore.

Unless it's costumes. Then they're all about it.

The grossest part?

It tastes good.

Ew. I just grossed myself out. Sorry.

If it makes you feel better his reaction to my icon was that Bowie has a 'rapey' look in his eyes.

The touque is cool too... your boys are fashion plates even when they're mostly naked! :)

Haha. I can see the boys loving the painting blood on the clothes part. How often do you get to do that?
