The Aftermath

A purse
Photo albums
The 80's version of Trivial Pursuit  (We played it.  It's fun)
A VCR DVD combo for the bedroom  (Whoop!)
Two sweaters
An Eric Idle book "The Greedy Bastard Diaries" (hubby has weird sense of humor)
bath junk (bubbles, gels, lotions, etc)
coffees and teas and a new travel cup (YAY)
a new (well, antique) china cabinet (that I neither asked for nor have room for in the house, so am insisting that hubby build us a new one.  House.)
Money, money, money

and I haven't recieved my sisters or mother's gifts yet because my Mother and Grandmother are coming today.  So I have to go put my house into some semblance of order.  Hit the high spots, as they say.  Oh, who am I kidding.  My mom's coming.  I'm going to go scrub for the next 6 hours.

I hope they like leftovers.

From this (vaguely phallic):

To very pretty and blocking Katie's view of the television.  I grew them myself!

The word "holiday" is  a misnomer, I think.  I feel like I've been run over by a truck.  I've spent the last three days cooking, baking and cleaning up, so I feel like I've been in the kitchen more in the past week than in all of 2006.  I made Christmas dinner this year...  that includes turkey, dressing, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, green beans, fruit salad, cranberry sauce, & apple and pecan pies, all from scratch, yo.  Also did two benevolence meals (one had a baby, one has cancer) the 22nd and 23rd, of lasagnas, side items and cakes.  Don't want to cook anymore.   Tired.

I've been having a reoccuring dream.  It's the most bizarre thing...  I've been asked to take a role over in a play, for reasons unknown.  It's not a big part, and I don't recognize the theatre, so I've never worked there before.  Each dream gets closer and closer to performance, and I have not memorized ANYTHING.  It's like the Chinese Water Torture version of the Actor's Nighmare (when you're onstage and you don't know who you're playing, what play it is, or any of your lines.)  I recognize the play, and (in the dream) remember making a comment to one of the other actors (a college buddy) that I could either play the character honest and sweet, or sarcastic and biting.  And in the dream I chose sweet.  Subconscious?  Letting me down, here!  Best part of the dream?  My counterpart is played by Orlando Bloom.  So I'm not truly complaining.  And I was getting out of the shower when he was in the dressing room (I love this dream theatre...  they have showers!) and he said "We're at places.(The show's about to start)  Are you ready?"  and I said,  "What do you mean?"  as I stood there dripping...  "Of course I am!  Are you trying to say that I don't look like I could go onstage right now and play the character to the best of my ability?"  And Orlando says, "Yes, of course, but the corset may take some time to get into...  want some help?"

And Dream Carrie says, "No."
Huffily, I might add.
Stupid, stupid Dream Carrie.

Great dream until the end. Note to subconsious: When Orlando Bloom asks you if you want help with your dream corset, You. Say. Yes.

I love Amarylis(es). Yours is the real beauty :) I had some but they rotted and now I promise myself to get new ones but somehow it's alway 'next year'. :)

About your dream *grins* Don't worry, as it is a reoccuring dream you will have a chance to say 'yes, please' next time :D And then don't forget to post what happened next ;p
Carrie Leighcarrie_leigh on December 28th, 2006 12:03 pm (UTC)
I hope so. I'm still a little disgusted with myself. :P

"Holiday" is indeed a misnomer *nods* I feel the same. Between cooking and cleaning I think I'd feel better if a truck had been obliging ;)

You did very well this year. I've hinted for a DVD player in the bedroom for ages (I'll just have to find one on sale *nods*). Antique cabinet definitely deserves a new house *g*

You should slap your dream-self very hard. Turning down Orlando Bloom's assistance *gasp* Insane I tell you, insane.
Carrie Leighcarrie_leigh on December 27th, 2006 02:04 am (UTC)
I know! It is insanity! I keep having opportunities to dream cheat and my subconscious is too virtuous. First Draco, then Orlando.... I'm disgusted with myself, actually. ;).

You turned down another dream guy? *giggles* Well, maybe that means your subconscious will keep sending them till you relent ;-)

I feel much the same about Christmas, because I ended up cooking this year (no idea how the mom got me to *g*) and cleaning up after 15 people when it was over. But Christmas was still fun.

Great presents! And *beautiful* flowers! Everything I plant dies, so I always admire people who manage to grow things :)
Carrie Leighcarrie_leigh on December 28th, 2006 12:06 pm (UTC)
Yes, another one. Can you beleive it? I hope my subconscious doesn't give up on me! I can do it! I know I can!

I think these flowers were a fluke, as I'm normally a plant killer, myself.
