LHM! it's like death on a cracker, y'all.
  • The boys had an awesome time at golf and tennis camp.  They are tanner and blonder and worn out, but happy.
  • I did some fun shopping with mom, got to cook with my little sister, fix my niece's gorgeous hair, argue the semantics of a properly drawn sun with my nephew, absconded with some custom made pottery from my Tom, drank a bottle of wine with my girlfriend and discovered my BIL's sense of humor.
  • Traffic.  Good heavens.  It took 30 minutes to get out of Arlington today, and another 45 to get out of the metroplex.  How the heck did I ever live there?  I 35 has got to be on one of the rings of hell.
  • Also, the heat.  The heeeeaaat.  The humidity.  The freakin' mosquitoes.  Good heavens above.  My skin may dry out on the caprock, but at least my hair looks good. ;)
  • I slipped an fell (on my face!) on Mom and Tom's deck this morning and I'm a mass of aches and pains.  Man, I feel old.  Knee and shoulder are not working properly, even after having been iced down after it happened.
  • The boys and I listened to Deathly Hallows on the way home.  Six hours of listening to Jim Dale, and we're not even to the 500 page camping trip.  Long winded much, JK?
  • I like Jim's character voices, but his narration voice drives me cuh-razy.  Also, his Hermione voice. "Harrrrryyyyyyyyy!."  Good gracious.  Do people talk like that?
  • Six hours in a car.  I stopped in a drive through for dinner and the boys ran in for a pit stop, but I realized once I was home that I never got out of the car, from Arlington to Amarillo.
  • We got a new mattress while I was away, apparently.  The Carrie and Nolan bed saga (with a MPAA rating of PG)  deserves a post of its own.  For now, I'm going to say, "Um... no."
  • I took two Advil Pm about 30 minutes ago (so I could sleep through the aches and pains from my idiotic fall) and it's like typing with gloves on.  Lots of backspacing.
  • It's good to be home.  I'd say it was great to be in my own bed... but this ain't it.
  • Since I'm about to crash face first into the laptop, (twice in one day on my face would be a bit much, methinks) I'll bid everyone a good night and happy weekend!
I hear:: Nolan snoring. :)

Ouch. Hope your aches and pains are minor tomorrow and gone the next if not sooner. Glad the boys had fun. I know about that traffic. You seriously have to plan to miss 5 o'clock traffic in the metroplex by getting out of it around 3. Ugh. You are a trooper. I've made that trip literally hundreds of times in my lifetime. When I was in college, I went there to see my hubby to be. I'd do the whole trip nonstop and the same going back. I'd leave Arlington around 6 or 7 or even later. So I didn't stop in the dark. But I pretty much stop at Quannah at least now days. Use to be Witchita but not since they did the overpass. Sorry for rambling.

I got a 'pirate' copy of Stephen Fry's DH audioversion. MUCH BETTER than the american version imo.

btw mosquitoes are rampant everywhere now!

edited because I apparently can't type at this hour of the morning and make sense the first time around.

Stephen Fry? Like Gordon Gordon on Bones Stephen Fry? I lurrrrve him.

I've made the trip down 287 more times than I can count. Nolan and I were engaged when we lived in Amarillo and Carrollton and I moved here the day after we got married, so I burned up the highway a bunch during 1996 and 1997.

We left at 2:30. It was still awful! I love "traffic" here. :D

And I signed up for this round of ronpansy_ldws. Love me some Ron!

Yes that Stephen Fry. Check it out if you can.

Same here but it was for two years then add on the 8 years I lived in Arlington and came up to see my parents.

Oh! I'll be looking for yours. Of the het fics I read that couple is second favorite.

I wish I'd worked out or something to feel this bad...

Six hours in a car in summer sounds like hell on earth! Ugh. But at least you had HP - I hate Jim Dale's narration (what I've heard of it) because Stephen Fry's is so perfect.

We had great AC. Could have been worse, I guess.

I will have to seek out Stephen Fry's then. I do love him. And my affection for Hermione is tenuous at best, so Jim Dale doing her snaps that thread fairly quickly.

I miss Arlington! *cries* My boyfriend and I would leave at like 8 to get back to our school by 10. Traffic was never bad after dark on a Sunday night. Go figure.

I've only heard the Jim Dale version of any of the books. But yeah Hermione is a little exaggerated. But that makes it amusing.

Arlington IS great. I love visiting.

Where in Arlington were you guys?
Carrie Leigh: Naptime for Arthurcarrie_leigh on June 26th, 2010 08:27 pm (UTC)
North Arlington? Green Oaks and Collins-ish.
Aylaabitofayla on June 26th, 2010 08:31 pm (UTC)
Oh. I used to be near the Dalworthington Gardens

Sorry you fell... and I'm MOST CURIOUS to hear about the bed.

I'm with you. I'll take dry over humidity any day.

It's okay. I felt ridiculous.

The bed. Oh, the bed. Yes, it's an ongoing saga.

I'm so happy to have to use lotion, you don't even know.

Nice Icon!
