The cute. It kills.
I made heart-shaped strawberry cake truffles today for a little valentine dance soiree we're attending this evening.

As ever, my boys came in from their parties at school so high I could SMELL the sugar on them, and when I said, "Hey look what mommy made today!" they gave me a pitying look, patted me, and proceeded to go outside and run off the buzz, presumably.

So I have to share with you nice people. If I'd wanted someone to oooh and ahhh over my art and sewing and cooking, I should've had a girl. Too late now, because THAT ship has sailed.

Anyhoo, on to the pictures.

And because I like to keep it real over here, let me show you a few that didn't make the cut.

This one fell apart during the dipping process. I tried to salvage with more candy coating, because really, now! What CAN'T be fixed with more candy coating?

Apparently him. He looks like Frankenheart.

How about a pretty white heart with pink icing drizzled prettily over the top and OH, YEAH! A BLACK STAIN on it. No, thank you.

How about a pointy-eyed, creepy smiling heart? Nothing says I love you like one of those.

One of each flavor of heart blobs with more blobby stuff drizzled over the top so they look like... blobs. Happy Blobentines Day, y'all!

Last but not least, a heart that my five year old nieces could do better than. And OMGOODNESS look at that pasty, white alien hand. Makes you hungry for cake truffles, huh?

Day 8 without Aidan. Going into serious withdrawals.

I hear:: It sounds like low flying aircraft, really.

Wow I am soo very impressed with your skills. Is there anything that you can't do?!!

Yeah... girls are more impressed with stuff like the above. Taara is my willing and enthusiastic helper for all my culinary mishaps. The poor thing will even gush over my burnt offerings so yeah...

I'm with you though on the two kid limit. After the second kid, I was done. What ever the gender of the second kid, I was ready to get tied up. :p

Is there anything I can't do?

Yep. Math. Numbers. Am hopeless.

I was done before I started; we never thought we have kids. Of course now that I have them, I lurrrrve them to itty bitty pieces. But I think we've done all that's humanly possible to ensure that the baby factory is shut down.

They weren't really that difficult, just a bit time consuming. Thanks!

Ursula, baby, you KNOW that I love you more 'n my luggage, but 'white chocolate' is not CHOCOLATE. It's emulsified lethicin parading around, using chocolate's good name. ;)

But what I used is vanilla-flavored, almond bark candy coating, and the next time I make a batch, I'll certainly send you some. And not castoffs. The pretty ones. :)
