Trophy Pants

Squee!

Today I squared with a pair of Levis that I bought when I was a Senior in college (fully eleven years ago, before the joyful, yet figure-destroying births of my sons).  I had been eyeing this particular pair of pants for some time - they sat, mocking me,  at the back of the closet, somehow evading the bags of donations that I made up for Lighthouse for the Blind or Catholic Family Services.  This morning, with my masochistic streak firmly in place, I dragged them off the hanger and laid them out on the bed, knowing that the last time I tried to put them on the @#**@#$s hadn't gone past my gigantic hips.
So I put them on...  and imagine my shock when they slid into place with no effort, zipped easily (no lying on the bed with a pair of pliers - did anyone else do that in the 80's?) and buttoned without a chunk of fat hanging over the waistband.  It's a (n early) Christmas Miracle.

They fit.  They fit well.

Are they hopelessly out of date?  Oh, absolutely.  Why, yes.  Yes, they are.  They have tapered ankles and a waistband that practically goes up to underneath my breasts.

Am I going to wear them?  Out in public?  No.  No 'mom jeans' in public.  Maybe to scrub bathrooms or something.

Will they make the next Goodwill bag?

Hell, no.  For they are my trophy jeans.  I'm contemplating framing the damn things, actually.

And this next stuff seems horridly self indulgent and selfish, but it's my journal, and you needn't feel compelled, because really I need NOTHING.  God has dropped a big bucketload of blessings on our family this year and if I received absolutely nothing for Christmas, I would still have everything that I could possibly want or need.  With the exception of #4.

The Instructions
Step One

- Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.

- If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.

- Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ, or link to this post (it'll be public) so that the holiday joy will spread.

Step Two

- Surf around your friendslist (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:

- If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.

You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.

There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

If you'd like to fulfill, my email is carrie.leigh@juno.com!

1.  Fan fiction...  stories...any thing that involves D/G...  drabbles, one-shots, novel length, I'm up for it all!  I haven't been able to get Tickish!Draco out of my head, but I seem incapable of doing anthing with it.  Also, blatant comedy fic would be a treat, too.  Thanks to Miran I have an image of LV running about the countryside shouting "Rampage, rampage, rampage"  and clapping his hands like a pouf.

2.  Icons?  Personalized, funny, D/G, Wizard of Oz, or for someone to teach me how to make the silly things.

3.  A new teapot?  Em, Mom?  White or Royal Blue or Stainless?  Please?

4.  For someone *cough mom cough* to come to my house after the holidays and help me make curtains for the living room.

5.  Music?  Movie Soundtracks, Beatlles, 80's music, Christian,  Musicals.  I'm not saying that anyone should break the law and burn CDs.  No, not at all.  I'm addicted to itunes.

6.  A full time maid at a reasonable price.  *bats eyelashes* Pretty please?

7. Blank journal books.  Can't get enough of these.

8. Stationary.  Love sending mail.

9.  Mail.  Love receiving mail.

10.  Someone to want to publish my original novel in the year of 2007.

I realize that #6 and #10 are really out there, but...  it is a WISH list.

I also have changed the lyrics to My Favorite Things from the Sound of Music in a D/G-esque way.  I'm too embarrassed to post it anywhere, but if you want it, I'll send it to you.

Congratulations on the trophy jeans! I know that awesome feeling. Almost makes dieting seem worth it, huh? :)

Any particular prompts for #1, aside from ticklish!Draco? :) I don't do humour well enough to do that justice.

I'll mount them on the wall next to my diploma
No specific promts. I do like the Malfoys in general, and I like the idea of Ginny being able to hold her own with Nasty!Narcissa and a Lucius that absolutely (comes to) adores her. I'm not fussy about OOC anyone. :)

Today, dieting is worth it. Later on, when I want something deep fried and smothered in chocolate, probably not so much!

Re: I'll mount them on the wall next to my diploma
Oooh, D/G with a benevolent Lucius :) I like that. Might require some thought so the Malfoys don't end up too OOC, but anything can be done in fanfic somehow *g* I'll see if I can come up with something!

Re: I'll mount them on the wall next to my diploma
I think I'll snag that wishlist idea from you and post something later :) But don't feel obligated - like you said, I don't *need* anything.

Ooh I love Ticklish!Draco too.

Somewhere in one of my fics, my beta mentioned a Ticklish!Draco plotbunny, and I keep thinking about it, and how much fun it would be, but nothing's ever come of it!

Pliers? Really?
Though I have sewn jeans shut... must feel nice, to know you have the body you did back then... I never wore those type of jeans, but I have heard many horror stories.

Yes, the eighties were great for music, nightmarish for fashion.

Thank you! It's all sparkly like Dorothy's shoes, with the Harry potter font! You're a sweetheart!
