What the HECK.
Good Lord in heaven above, folks are CUH-RAZY.

Seriously. SERIOUSLY.

Read this. I'm absolutely speechless.

But hey, at least they're serving dinner.  Only to their book burning members, though. Not the general public.

'Cause that's what Jesus would do.

I am:: home
I feel:: aggravatedaggravated
I hear:: Glee soundtrack

Ooo, I heard about this on the radio. People are nutters! I like how it specifically stated that they will be serving fried chicken. I know a lot of Bible scholars have issues with the NIV due to missed & skipped passages in translation, but burning the Bible??! No! Burning any books is bad in my, uh, book!

I agree. But to call MOTHER TERESA and the Pope a heretic?

So... He's not aware that the King James Bible was heavily edited by King James and his supporters, to specifically support the political points of view of King James and his supporters?
Carrie Leigh: screw up fairycarrie_leigh on October 28th, 2009 06:35 pm (UTC)
That's the first thing that occurred to me, too. Shouldn't they be reading the bible in the Original Greek or Arabic?

Just out of curiosity, what town is that church in? I couldn't see the entire page on my Blackberry.

Those people are crazy! That's no way to spread the Gospel. >.

I don't know... hm... I looked around and couldn't find it.

They sure hate on a lot of people. Clearly in all their scriptural study they missed the bit where the Saviour talked about the two great commandments - I should email them and link Matt22:37-39.

and they are in the Waynesville, N.C. area... just by what I read anyway.

nbaeker: ehhnbaeker on October 28th, 2009 10:35 pm (UTC)
But do you use the KJV? Heaven forbid if you don't!

I think they missed out on the whole church thing, you know, LOVE and acceptance and all that?

Oh well. Too bad about the fried chicken though. I'd have gone for that. :D

Okay, so first thing? My eyeballs are literally burning from the contrast on that red font. Yeesh. Secondly. Southern gospel music? They're burning CHURCH MUSIC? Whaaaaaat? (Or is this not really churchy? I don't know much about gospel.)

It always amazes me how groups like this maintain a following. How on earth can there be so many nut cases in one area?

Two Words: Crazy. Cakes.

I love the part where he says, "No, I don't read Hebrew or Greek. But God's word is pure!" If that were the case, then by his logic regarding the other translations he mentions, he should be reading the original Hebrew and Greek scrolls. He needs to learn how to read those two languages, and then translate it himself. They are available online, for Heaven's sake.

KJV isn't a good translation, either, as it was translated from the Latin Bible which was translated from the Hebrew and the Greek. I think crazy cakes there needs to go up to Google and translate his favorite bible verses to Spanish, then to French, then to Chinese, and back to English.

He's lucky KJV makes any sense at all!

Everybody thinks we Catholics are going to hell in a handbasket.

Maybe, but we'll have bingo and beer.

And yeah, the guy is a whack job. We have some of those at my work 'cause it's a Christian organization.
