Good dress rehearsal last night. Little line bobbles, some sound & tech glitches, but we've got two more to get it perfect. I had to costume myself for this show, I don't prefer that, but I'm also going to keep what I bought. Cute Ralph Lauren shirts (in pink, of course) and a pair of Khakis in a SIZE 8, thankyouverymuch. I've lost a lot of weight, and it's still coming off. 12 more lbs. should do it. Maybe I'll be happy with myself, then. I haven't been happy with the way I look in... well I've never been happy with the way I look. Even when I was thin. I blame it on the fashion/modelling industry. It's easier than blaming it on my love for Snickers Bars and french fries.
Nolan was at the women's dinner last night , so I had to find a sitter for the boys. I've been feeling a little guilty for the time I've been away from them, lately. Especially when she picked them up from the theatre and Aaron threw himself at her knees, hugging her. Just jealousy, I guess. I'm glad they love her. She took them to the park and gave them a bath, and I was still home before Nolan. But having had a sitter, you know what that means. My house is clean today. I have a sickness.
Nolan, big softie that he is, helped some homeless people last night. He was at our church, making sure all the women were safe (it's in a rather dodgy pary of downtown) and this guy came up to him with the sob story... except this one was really good. He said he was originally from Dallas and needed to get back there. He was in Amarillo working at the tri-state fair, and he got fired.
Get this. He's a Carnie. (Small hands. Smell like cabbage.)
Anyway, Nolan bought him a bus ticket to Dallas, gave him $20 for food and gave the girl he was with a ride to a gas station and $10. $100 total, for showing God's love, I guess. Nolan told him that he didn't owe him anything, just to help the next person he could. Is this the man I married 8 years ago? No, it is not. I'm rather proud. I don't know that we can afford to help all of the homeless in Amarillo, but at least he doesn't have the republican (not that there's anything wrong with that) attitude that they should just get a job and pull themselves up by their own... whatever.
Going to do a radio spot in the morning for the show... that should be fun. Then tomorrow afternoon I have a parent teacher conference with Ethan's teacher, just to see how he's doing. He's learning so much this year. Like a little sponge. He also Idolizes her... a little crush, I think. She's all of 23, and very pretty. He's always writing her little notes and drawing her pictures. I think it's sweet.
Enormous pile of laundry awaits me. Must fold and iron. My life is GLAMOUROUS, I tell you!
Love to all!
