I am going to get something written. I am. I swear.
So I decided to get out of the house today, to see if a coffee shop near my house would be more conducive to writing than my living room, where I'm distracted by a multitude of things, minute by minute.

Haven't written a word, unless you count comments on other people's LJ's.  *sigh*

I have paid all the bills, written out sympathy and greeting cards, and shored up my appointment book.  I'm going to work in the box office at the theatre at the end of the month.  Have to learn how to do that.  Hope it doesn't involve lots of numbers.  Ah, well, they know who they've hired.  I don't pretend to be something I'm not.

Um, at least not off stage.  Heh.
My mother makes this, and the amounts are really a matter of taste, so you can give it the old guess, and still come up with a great salad dressing.  The bottled, store-bought stuff pales in comparison.

Balsamic Vinaigrette Dressing
Equal parts balsamic Vinegar and really good quality olive oil  (1/4 c of each?)
Dijon mustard
minced garlic
salt and pepper

Maybe a tablespoon (more or less to taste) of the rest of it.  I seal it up in a jelly jar and give it a good shake.  It's yummy, yummy stuff.
I'm not sure about the new skin, whether I like it or not.  Of course it's nowhere nearly as fantabulistic as SOME people's.  *cough*

P.S.  I went by the wallpaper place to place my order this morning (thanks for your help, f-list!) and they're closed til Friday.  *headdesk*

Oh, Carrie. We can't all be fabbity all the time.

I love anything having to do with balsamic vinegar. It's one of my favorite things.

And tell me about it--the writing? I still am up in the air about my exchange fic. *pouts*
parvati_caliga on February 11th, 2008 06:34 pm (UTC)
Well, I can't really tell you, can I?
seegrimseegrim on February 11th, 2008 06:38 pm (UTC)
Yeah. Probably not. :)

So long as you're not doing the Cash Rec, and can give change, you should be all right. If they've got some sort of automated POS system, you should be golden, as they usually tell you how much to give the person back.
Carrie Leighcarrie_leigh on February 11th, 2008 06:59 pm (UTC)
Blah, blah, blah, cash, blah, change, blah.

*hugs brendan*

You don't know me very well, do you?
Brendan: Fonzie - Ayyyy!brendanm720 on February 11th, 2008 07:08 pm (UTC)
Well, fairly well...

I just like imagining the blank look on people's faces when I launch into the technobabble.

What I really said:
If you can count back change, you should be okay. If they have a computer or a cash register or something like that to do the math for you, you should be golden. If you have to count the money at the end of the night, you're screwed. :-D
Carrie Leighcarrie_leigh on February 11th, 2008 07:12 pm (UTC)
you're screwed. :-D

Most probably. There's no cash register that I've ever seen, but I can count back change. I'm not completely useless.

I just hope I don't screw it up beyond repair. ;)

I interrupt this comment to bring you total agreement.

I used to work in a business where I had to reconcile cash to inventory, and I just liked saying POS. Especially with a double meaning. ; )
Carrie Leighcarrie_leigh on February 12th, 2008 01:22 am (UTC)
Like a 1973 Buick Electra POS?

Every Point of Sale system that I have ever had the "pleasure" to work with/on, has made use of that very same double entendre.

Most often, though, the scale has been tipped toward the non "Point of Sale" end of things...

I like the layout - I've seen it on a couple of other people's journals as well and I liked the pretty flowers.

The writing would be the exchange fic writing?

*feels better about the mess she's made of hers so far*

*immediately feels guilty about feeling better*
Carrie Leighcarrie_leigh on February 11th, 2008 06:56 pm (UTC)
It is exchange fic stuff.

I have a full outline, and 12 pages of fic. *shrugs*
Kate: D/G Kissmugglechump on February 11th, 2008 07:02 pm (UTC)
You have TWELVE PAGES already?

I rarely write entire fics that are that long. Good grief. Must work on prolificness. (Is that a word?)
Carrie Leighcarrie_leigh on February 11th, 2008 07:04 pm (UTC)
Handwritten. On a legal pad. Don't freak out.
Numbaby: Bowie sound prisonnumbaby on February 13th, 2008 03:29 pm (UTC)
Oh, Salazar. Now I'm freaking out. Haven't written anything yet. I guess I know what I'm doing Saturday arvo.
ex_justduch on February 11th, 2008 07:50 pm (UTC)
Sounds yummy!

If you want a different layout, I'd be willing to make you one. I have some of my layout examples on my site, or you can always find one you like in freelayouts. Also, if there is someone's you like, point it out to me and I'll see what I can do.

That's a very sweet offer! And I'd love to take you up on it, but I've no idea what I want. Go figure. Me not able to make a decision. It's shocking.

If I ever do think of something brilliant, I'm so coming to you!
Carrie Leighcarrie_leigh on February 13th, 2008 01:12 am (UTC)
That was me. i think I'll log in, now. :)

Credit, if you please? LoveYa, Mom

What part of "my mother makes this" was unclear?
(Anonymous) on February 11th, 2008 09:08 pm (UTC)
never mind earlier gripe. I see you did give credit. M

LOL! If you want a different header (even though this one is lovely LOVELY) all you have to do is find a graphic girl and hide her in your closet. As long as you promise to feed me lots of chocolate, I'm good. Celeste has peeps. I'm sure if you looked around hard enough you'd see you have the same peeps. ;)

WORD on the not writing anything. I'm freaking out because I haven't even started my exchange fic. Draco and Ginny are currently in Jamaica on vacation with my muse. At least it's warm there. I'm freezing here. That's probably why the muse has left the country.

How totally fun to work in the box office. HEE! I bet you'll be fine. Just 'act' like you know what you're doing! ;)
Carrie Leigh: We're actorscarrie_leigh on February 13th, 2008 01:16 am (UTC)
You're sweet to offer. I've got no idea what I'd even want. I can't make a decision to save my life.

Although... if you really loved me you'd make a James Marsden/CZJ icon for me...

Aaaand I wrote another 5 pages today waiting for Ethan to get a tooth filled (more on being a great mom later) handrwritten on a legal pad. So, yeah, that's what? A quarter of a page once it's typed?
dLdieloreley on February 12th, 2008 12:07 pm (UTC)
Don't you wish you could download other people's voices into your heads when you need it? My mum does sums in her head. Really big scary ones. She's useful like that (and for lots of other reasons too, of course!)

Vinaigrette dressing sounds like YUM and it's so a la my grandma, it's funny. She's always been like 'I use these ingredients. Don't ask me how much. I wouldn't have a clue. Go figure it out yourself... you have a brain.'

Which wallpaper did you decide on? Stupid office. What's this closed during the week business?

New skin... I liked the old one better, but this one's pretty with all the flowers. You know my inclination towards any shade of red already, so it should be no great mystery why I liked the other one better. :P

Hope the coffeeshop idea works out!
Carrie Leigh: coffee like fanficcarrie_leigh on February 13th, 2008 01:21 am (UTC)
Your grandma wins. My grandma is like that, too. :)

I decided on the one I liked the best (not pictured. I'll be sure and post pics when it's all done.)

I'm not in love with this one, and it's kinds hard to read but... meh.
Elizabeth: approvelittlebit_liz on February 13th, 2008 12:50 am (UTC)
I haven't written anything lately either, although for once, it seems to be more because I don't have time, and not because I'm just being lazy.

Hope you're more productive with your writing than I've been! 8D
