So.  We're back from Austin.  Had a fabulous time.  Did some antiquing.  Nabbed some fabby Spode plates that were far underpriced, (score!) and some antique handkercheifs for my collection.  So pretty.

We did Austin-y things.  Kerby Lane.  Chuys, SoCo, Magnolia Cafe.  6th Street.  I'm far to old for that by the way.  I know, because I had an interesting hungover conversation with seegrimthe next morning in which it took two hours to reply in the document I was working in.

Oooh!  Also, saw 27 Dresses at the Alamo Drafthouse.  Seriously, any movie theatre that sells beer & food, and has waiters that cater to you during the movie?  Okay in my book.  And 27 Dresses?  Well, I didn't care for Katherine Heigl at all (with the exception of the dress montage), but James Marsden?  So.  Much. Love.  I didn't feel the chemistry between them even a little bit, and wanted to rip her out of the way, so I could do it properly.  Guh.  The boy is adorable.  Benny and the Jets?  Out of this world.  Though, the lyrics are right there on the album cover!  (sue_bridehead?  Can I get an amen?)

We also toured the capitol building.  I am such an architecture geek.  Have pics to post.  Maybe tomorrow.

So tired.  There's no place like home.

Haven't seen the movie, but Benny and the Jets? Love that song. No one can go wrong with that.

Go see it! It's Cormac!

(Am such a dork. I totally thought that throught the WHOLE movie)

I used to watch Heroes (when the strike wasn't affecting things... although I am on their side) and totally squee for Anthony. And he was evil in it. So, it helped to keep the illusion.

You know, we seriously missed each other by a week. Last week end my roomie and I visited and saw all the sites as well!

I'm glad you're home! And I cannot believe I haven't seen 27 dresses yet. I must rectify that. :)

RUN, run, run to see it. He's so completely adorable, and then buy it when it comes out on DVD so you can squee anytime you want.

That's what I'm going to do, anyway.
seegrimseegrim on January 28th, 2008 04:41 am (UTC)
I think I might go see it right now. It's playing at 10:25. Of course I'd have to go by myself--Paul doesn't want to. I don't know if I've ever been to a movie by myself. I wonder if I could talk a friend into going. Hmm...
Carrie Leigh: intermissioncarrie_leigh on January 28th, 2008 04:43 am (UTC)
I'd go.

If I were in within an 800 mile radius.
seegrimseegrim on January 28th, 2008 04:44 am (UTC)
Yeah. You're probably a bit too far away. I'd make you pitch in for gas, at least.

If it weren't for this pesky "different hemispheres" thing, I'd totally grab you both and see it again. He's absolutely awesome and wonderful and made of win. We cheered. I cried a bit.

Sounds like you had my kind of trip! I'm sooo jealous. We just went to one of those places where you watch a movie and they bring you dinner and drinks. It was really fun. We saw "Enchanted." Cute show. The outing was kind of expensive ($95 for three of us), but the food was good. It was a great experience. Very enjoyable.

Yeah, baby - Elton John! :D My daughter wants to see "27 Dresses." It looks like fun.

Oh, I love touring historical things, but I can't get my family to go anywhere. (Hubby will go if there's a lot of majestic artwork - but you never know till you get there...) We have lived in Phoenix for the past 9 years, and have we even been to the capitol? No! I must correct that. :-/ Yes, pics are required, so spam away!

Re: Amen!
Enchanted was cute. I liked it, too.

Elton, of course, rocks.

And yeas, I don't usually want to go, but I have sort of a good time once I'm there. :)

The plot and writing aren't stellar, but James Marsden is SO cute. Really. Totally worth the bucks to see the movie.
Elizabethlittlebit_liz on January 28th, 2008 02:44 pm (UTC)
Agh I love the Alamo Drafthouse. Best movie theatre ever 8D.

I love James Marsden, I'll see the movie just for him. And finally he's got a lead guy role, he always plays the other, super sweet guy that doesn't get the girl :p

Oh, he's so cute in it. He's the best thing about the whole movie. :)

Seriously, SO glad you're back. Very glad you had a lovely trip, but SO glad you're back.

My parents lived in Austin a long time ago (40+ years). Mom loved it. I've always wanted to go.

And yeah, 27 Dresses is a must-see for the Cormac viewing alone.

Aw, it's nice to be missed. :)

I love Austin , too. In the winter. South Texas is HOT.

*giggles* Cormac viewing. Mmmmhmmm.

I posted them. I don't know that they're all that interesting, though.
